Byron Bay Wedding at The Earth House – Rhys and Eloise – a big tease

Brisbane Wedding Photographer

As a Brisbane Wedding Photographer, I cherish every chance I get to pop down to the beautiful, Byron Bay.

This week is the time to show off a little of the huge day of Eloise and Rhys’s Byron Bay wedding, and at my favourite spot of all down there, The Earth House.

The little Byron hinterland town of Clunes was a tad windy this day, but the sun shone like a gem every time we needed it. The beautiful 100 year old Fig Tree sheltered everyone for the ceremony, and caught their hats when they blew off.

Elo wore her stunning Grace Loves Lace dress perfectly. Rhys and his boys looked very smart indeed in their Blue MJ Bale suits, and not to mention the girls in their random designed, but all still matching, yellow spotted outfits, Awesome!

Elo’s proud dad walked her underneath the fig tree and down the aisle to her Husband to be. Rhys, eagerly waiting for her with a huge smile on his face.

There were kind and loving words by celebrant Roxy Hotton. Wedding rings were flying about. There was an epic KISS! It was all quite short but sweet! Thanks Roxy, quality not quantity right? 🙂

We wandered out and around the very dry, but still stunning, grounds of the Earth House for our “Expression Session”.

We also snuck up the road to the local macadamia orchard for some quiet time and a pic or two among the trees.

Then it was back to let the party begin! Eat Drink catering cooked up a huge storm. The atmosphere was fabulous, everyone was very appreciative indeed. Beautiful food guys, thank you!

The tunes were awesome too, the talented White Tree started rocking the house!

Then the sun decided to turn on a little “Golden charm” for us, so Elo and Rhys and I popped out again.

Then everyone just partied on really.  There were some sparklers, and the Magic Bus was there to take all home to bed.

Thanks so much to everyone who put this epic day on. Thanks for having me along. Love!

Brisbane Wedding Photographer – Best of 2018

Hello, Matt here.

2018 sure was one crazy year!

Déus Photography is now a thing of the past and Light Pictures was born. It wasn’t our choice to do it, but so be it, I like our new handle!

I will be honest though, it greatly impacted us a lot. After the previous year of being booked to capacity for the first time!, everything got flipped on it’s head. We had to remove all reference of “Deus” from our work, all the way back to the start. Because of this, many awesome clients who were spreading the word for us, and ones who eventually tracked us down, said “Where did you go? We have been sending out our praise to everyone but they couldn’t find you! You just vanished!”

That’s a hard thing to hear as a small business owner, with all the years of hard work we put into building up a reputation, “wow”ing our clients, only for most of it to vanish before our eyes. So, 2018 has actually really been a struggle – we have just kept things alive, a very soul challenging time.  I can also tell you that managing a business by yourself, whilst looking after 2 young kids part of every week, sure keeps your hands full!

But I wouldn’t give that up for the world. I love my two tykes Louis and Layla so much, every moment I get to spend with them is a blessing. It’s just so amazing being able to do what I do to be able to be a work at home dad. It means being able to spend so much time with them in these precious years, it’s perfect!

But with all these things considered, I have decided to drop my hours down to just part time. This is just for a while to see how things go. I think it will be a positive thing all round. Quality not Quantity, I say!

There was another side to 2018 too, a hugely positive side.

Firstly I must start with gratitude. Gratitude I have for the privilege of being given all the love and trust from so many amazing couples.

Once again I was able to travel. I saw so many new and beautiful parts of our country, for that I am so thankful. Just to mention though, one recent month I clocked over 4000 km’s in my car!

I have been a big part of some extremely amazing days and seen so much Love…and I still to this day have not had a “Bridezilla”!

Looking back through all these photos, I am proud of what I have to show off to you. My work sure has come a long way since my first wedding around 9 years ago. And with everything that has been going on, I’m proud of what I have accomplished. And all from what really wasn’t a heap of weddings.

I am just soooo happy that I have recorded so many memories, for all my love birds out there in marriage bliss to keep.

I am very thankful that I have been able to a part of them all.

A big “Thanks!” to everyone in my life for all your support. A huge thanks to my sister Hannah, who had a baby only a few months ago. Han, you are amazing. I’m also very much looking forward to shooting with you again when you can, soon I hope!

Thank you to my brother Damien, for moving in with me all the way from Sydney, having you here as a friend and with all your support, has meant the world to me.

Thanks to my mate Pete Oakman, my 2nd shooter, road trip partner and general partner in crime, your talent, support and help has been priceless…a fair few of the pics belong to you bud!

And I couldn’t forget my wonderful mother! Love you Mum, muchly.

I also want to thank the World, for Symmetry, light, “WOW”‘s, colour, kisses, flowers, Fuji, talent, Love!

2018 has actually been a fun ride. It’s always challenging being a Brisbane Wedding Photographer, but I love a challenge…riding the Roller-coaster of life!

And I would like to leave you with, “Trust me, I remind myself every day of how lucky I am, to be able to do what I do, and that I have been blessed with such an awesome family.”

I am eagerly looking forward to 2019, with my chin up and hope in my heart.

Everyone please spread the word! “We have not gone anywhere, we are still doing what we do and we want to be a part of more wonderful journeys for many years to come!”

Below are a bunch of snapshots in time, all from REAL weddings. They all tell a story and bring back amazing memories, and I think they all belong on a wall…..somewhere. Pictures with Light!

There are some beautiful locations up above that’s for sure. But if you are planning a wedding, or know someone who is, have a look at a great feature we have done on some Venues up in our area of the world, Byron Bay. It’s well worth a look, and just over HERE.

Southern Highlands Wedding – Jade and Sid – preview

Southern Highlands Wedding – Jade and Sid – Bendooley Estate, Berrima NSW

Southern Highlands Wedding Photography

Jade and Sid join together as one, on a breezy spring day, in the beautiful Southern Highlands of NSW.

You are two of the very loveliest humans I’ve met in a long time, such a pleasure to be around.

Your day was full of love, laughter, dancing, great food and wine, lots of kissing and thoughtful words being spoken all around. Your families were so extremely happy for you two to be spending the rest of your lives together, the tears showed it. I’m so glad you guys found each other, and I am so thankful that I was part of it all, I feel blessed. Jade, what a dress! Oh my you looked stunning!

So lets skip along to the story of the day now for a few sneaky pics.

Sid stands proudly at the amazing historic St. Francis Xavier chapel waiting for his bride to be Jade to join him. A very proud father walks Jade down the aisle to meet her man and gives Jade away, what a moment. What more could a Wedding Photographer hope for than a start like that in such a beautiful old church!

After an amazing ceremony, the party moved to the absolutely epic Bendooley Estate.

Jade and Sid and I managed to sneak off to take a few pics around the Estate, before we all joined their crew to celebrate on into the night.

You guys were blessed with a gorgeous spring day in wonderland. It sprinkled down for one short moment (what I think was God shedding a tear of happiness for you) then the sun shone on us for hours as we wandered around one of the best wedding venues in Australia. The sun went down and the sky was full of stars.

One truly memorable day. Thank you, thank you to you two!

For now here are a few teasers that caught my eye when browsing through the story of your day. Hope you like. More to come soon!

Byron Bay Wedding Photographer – Mark and Stephie – a few frames..

Byron Bay Wedding Photographer – Toowoomba Wedding – Mark and Stephie

What a way to finish the year, with a New Years Eve wedding!

Stephie and Mark married each other out in the stunning Gabbinbar Estate in rural Brisbane, Toowoomba.

Such romance and excitement. Stephie was doing nervous squats most of the time right up until she climbed into that stunning dress.

There were clouds, sunshine, then rain, the perfect amount of romance the gods could cram into one day.

Proud father in arm lock, Steph walked down the aisle with the hugest grin on her face. Mark was awe-struck….and fair enough, Stephie was glowing with excitement and looked just stunning!

They said their emotional with a touch of giggles vows, kissed, were showered with rose petals as they walked back down the aisle, then rode off on a horse drawn carriage to take in the beauty of the estate and have some time for them, as a couple that just became one.

When they returned they drink champagne, play croquet, then partied the night away in style with amazing food, wine and live music.

There were fireworks at midnight welcoming in 2018, and them into their new life together as husband and wife. Stephs dad, with tear in eye, hugged his daughter so tightly…under a sky full of light.

The day and night was one I will never forget.

Thanks for having me and my insatiable 2nd shooter Pete along on your New Years Eve rollercoaster ride in the beautiful Toowoomba, what a pleasure and an honour!

Here are a handful of my picks of the day.

    Many more to come soon.

Toowoomba Wedding Photography – Dom and Sarah – teasers

Toowoomba Wedding Photography – Dom and Sarah – teasers

I love these two, Dom and Sarah, such lovely people. I can say I’ve had a few drinks with them now, on a few occasions, and anyone who can handle chatting to me for long periods of time is cool in my books.

SO this was my first trip out to Toowoomba (being a Sydney boy originally) and so I didn’t quite know what to expect. Maybe a little country town, lots of hills, cows, the odd gum tree..

But then I guess this Gabbinbar Homestead place actually isn’t very typical of anywhere I have been, besides maybe in the South of France somewhere. What a spectacular venue! So immaculate, so huge, so well looked after and such great helpful staff. I wandered around for hours discovering little spots thinking of taking pics later. Of course we didn’t get to fit them all in, but we did our best. I hope to go back one day and finish that off!

Anyway, Sarah married Dom, in fantasy land, in “The Woods” actually, in front of the most amazing floral backdrop I have ever seen, well done Amanda from Deans, the whole place just looked stunning.

They danced under fireworks, drank champagne all night, never stopped kissing the whole day, and now they will be together forever.

I sincerely wish you guys all the best in love and life, but it seems you will be fine.

Thanks to my good mate and fabulous 2nd shooter Pete Oakman for coming along and taking a huge load off.

A few teasers here, so many to choose from, but just these for now….

Brisbane Wedding Photography – Adrian and Monica – a few frames

Brisbane Wedding Photography – Adrian and Monica – a few frames

Rain is romance.  The way these two look at each other is contagious, in Love.

Just a few of my faves from the beautiful rainy day Brisbane country wedding of Adrian and Monica, at the beautiful Brockhurst Farm in Ocean View.

Yes the page boy, with rings in hand, broke out into a dance in the middle of a verse reading, much to the embarrassment of the flower girls!

Monica and Adrian got hitched in Gum boots!

Thanks for having me along for the ride guys!

        More to come soon.
