I spent last Saturday with these two, Erik and Svea, on their big day. Earth House, in the little Byron Bay Hinterland town of Corndale.
I cant say much more than, what an epic day. Erik and Svea, so much fun. Earth House, what a spot! Byron, thanks for the charm.
You’ll see the whole story soon but for now here are a couple of my faves…
Big thanks to my sister Hannah for helping shoot the day, you were awesome sis! Also a big thanks to Munro, the owner of The Earth House, it’s truly one beautiful place and so well run….every thing there is just right. Hope to be back!
Extremely proud for a first time entrant to have picked up a Silver in the AIPP QLD Epson Professional Photographer of the year awards.
I have to admit that being there at the judging is quite a nerve wrecking experience. It was quite humbling being a part of such a high caliber of photography, seeing the exceptional quality prints up on the wall afterwards. Printing really is an art-form in itself.
I learned a lot that’s for sure. I came away with a handful of high scoring photos, and with some more print knowledge, who knows, next year may be… an even better story.
Here is the judges’ favourite, from the Travel category. It was described by one judge as “a great portrayal of natives in their habitat”. Some people sure are characters. The judges couldn’t pick the location, but I can assure you, it’s under the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, hours before a 4 day blizzard closed the whole of New York City.

Poachers Pantry has fantastic food and the beautifully kept property sure has a lot of variety for some great Canberra Wedding Photography. There are tree lined dirt roads, a great old barn, numerous old pieces of farm equipment scattered about and a few really huge trees. It’s also only a short walk over to the west make the sunset if it is nice to you on the day.
Well we did manage to get lucky on Justin and Bree’s big day, a few sneaky sunset pics always do it for me.
Also a few others, just a sneak peek really.
Thanks so much for having Rachael and I along on your awesome day in a beautiful part of Canberra. You are all very cool people, it was a real pleasure and great fun!
More to come soon guys!

Byron Bay Wedding Scott and Rachael – Horizon, Byron Bay
I went up to the top of the Byron Hinterland to Horizon the day before Scott and Rachael’s big day, and the wind wasn’t exactly still. I could barely walk outside for fear of being blown off the deck down into the pond! The view was breathtaking though, so I just crossed my fingers that the god’s would behave.
Well the next morning, there was calm, and also in the house, as Scott and Rachael prepared to walk down the aisle.
Rachael chose a floral gown, spectacularly pulled off by Wendy Makin, and Scott hadn’t seen it and I was told had no idea what it looked like, boy he was in for a surprise.
Once the lads were all dapper, they headed out to the deck to wait for the girls. The always charismatic Benjamin Carlyle was out hyping up the crowd, it was all on.
The clouds parted and the sun came out for the vows. Then Byron got a bit angry, the wind came, and there was a spectacular light display on the horizon. Of course after that it poured rain for the rest of the night while everyone danced and drank the night away.
Here is the little story of Scott and Rachael’s day through my camera, and all the inbetweens of the above mentioned.
Ellen Hayes -Wow!! Wow!! Wow!! I don’t know this couple but these photos brought tears to my eyes. So beautiful!! I love the 2 of the couple in front of the rain.ReplyCancel
Karen Pentland -So lovely…my beautiful daughter and son in law…now the parents of two beautiful little girls <3ReplyCancel
Matt – “Wow, and how old are you then??” (thinking how young you both look)
Ravindu – “Twenty five, we met at school and have been together ever since”
It’s a bit sad but I don’t meet many couples these days that were/are high school sweet hearts.
That’s true love to me, quite simply…and it will stand the test of time.
Ravindu and Nishi, thanks for a lovely afternoon pottering about in some of Sydney’s sweet spots, and congratulations on getting engaged!
Here are a few little teasers for you. More to come soon.
Some of the places we visited for our Engagement Photography in Sydney were Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Bradley’s Head, Circular Quay, Balmoral Beach and The Rocks.

Brisbane Wedding Photography – Grant and Monica – Ukrainian Catholic Church, University of Queensland and Hillstone St. Lucia
Just a few of my favourites from an awesome day of Brisbane wedding photography on the weekend. Grant and Monica, two love birds, soul mates and all round cool cats, allowed me the privilege of being a part of their special day.
I always love a bride who wears Karen Willis Holmes and her classic dress went perfectly with the gorgeous UQ Great Court as a backdrop for some bridal party photos.
Enjoy your sneak peek and I look forward to sharing your full wedding day story very shortly.
Svea Viskovich - Superb photography. Beautiful couple.
Deus Photography - If you don’t mind saying yourself!! I tend to agree with both comments though.
Erik Carlsson - Amazing photos – thank you so much for capturing our special day in such a special way Matt and Hannah!
Deus Photography - Such a fab day Erik, thanks so much for everything! Glad you like the few pics so far.
