Country Wedding in Gayndah QLD – Anneliese and Scott – teasers
Gayndah is a cute little country town out in rural Queensland. Lovely friendly folk, stunning landscape, rivers, mountains, cows, lots of Mandarins…my kind of town!
Anneliese married her love Scott this day, in the cute little chapel below. They were two, now they are one.
Once the hard part was done, all the planning and stress and excitement in the lead up, turned into big smiles with thoughts of “Let’s get drunk!”
Well everyone did, I think, but everyone behaved themselves, kind of 😉
What an amazing day!I still have landscape images popping in and out of my head now.
The countryside in Australia is just so amazing to travel through. It’s so calming, so…big, I just feel humble out there, and I’m humbled to be able to do what I do.
Thanks to my partner in crime Pete Oakman who came for the drive, for the wedding, then drove me home…and took some cracking shots!
Thanks everyone, the Slacks and the Davis’, for having us along and allowing us to be a part of your wonderful celebration, in a wonderful country town.
Just a few faves below for you for now…plenty more to come very soon.
How amazing do these two look!
Here is one of our recent articles on accommodation in another beautiful part of Australia.
We then headed down the the historic Coffs Harbour Jetty (a 14 strong bridal party) for some pre-dusk photos. The sun finally popped it’s head out for a moment to thank them.
Then it was back up to the Villa to feast on some delish food by Beach Stone Café, and to just party the night away.
Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your special day, for the kind words you have spoken so far.
More of the whole wedding soon, and some of the best Coffs Harbour wedding photography I have seen, but for now an eagerly awaited few pics of the day.
Also big thanks to the Lauren and Peta from North Coast Luxury Weddings for organising and running such a wonderful day.
Byron Bay Wedding Photographer – James and Brooke – Earth House
Byron Bay Wedding Photographer – James and Brooke – Earth House
Just looking at Brooke all I saw was smiles, they were there from the moment I walked into see the girls, and they did not stop all day and night – Have a look, seriously!
Brooke’s insanely gorgeous gown is by Leah Da Gloria. WOW, I’ve rarely seen a dress suit a woman so perfectly.
I have always been amazed by beautiful dresses, they really are pieces of art in themselves.
The elegant and subtle rose bouquets, and the unique ceremony floor, are by another Byron Bay super wonder, The French Petal.
James wears a custom suit by InStitchu, he just matched Brookes elegance perfectly. James is a very lovely man too, he is such a pleasure to be around.
That is just James and Brooke, elegance, they are matched perfectly.
The words they speak together, about each other, and the emotion from all their loved ones at the reception speeches, I’ll openly admit creates a feeling of humbleness in me.
James and Brooke will be happy together forever.
I also feel privileged every time I am invited back to The Earth House. Thank you to everyone for making it happen for me again, so much love to you all!
A huge thanks to my good friend and superb Photographer, Pete Oakman. Pete helped out on the day when my very pregnant sister Hannah was not able to make it along.
The following Byron vendors are also fabulous. Thanks for bringing Brooke and James’ day together.
Byron Bay Wedding Photographer – Ben and Alanna – a few frames
It was lovely to get back to the stunning Victoria’s at Ewingsdale last weekend, a Byron Bay Wedding Photographer dreamscape.
The weather was full of character, sun, clouds, rain, lots more rain. But Ben and Alanna embraced the day and there wasn’t a moment when they didn’t have smiles on their faces.
These two are in Love.
Mostly, Alanna did well to hold back extreme tears as she said her vows to Ben, although there were a few. Ben just gazed at her with so much love.
Alanna’s gorgeous two piece gown is by Pina Fiorenza and a special thanks to the celebrant Chiquita Mitchell for such a lovely ceremony.
We found some shelter from the rain on the Victoria’s grounds for a few romantic snaps before we headed off to the beach to celebrate.
The reception was at the funky Belongil Bistro in Byron. The food was beautiful. We snuck out onto Belongil Beach over the road for a couple of photos of just the two of them and some time to themselves as newlyweds.
Everyone drank and chatted and danced the night away.
It was one wonderful day. Thanks to everyone for having me along to be a part of such a celebration of love and romance.
Just a couple of teasers for now to keep up the suspense until the rest come very soon.
Destination Pre-wedding Engagement Session in Northern NSW and the Gold Coast QLD, Australia – Dennis and Michel
A tale of two lovebirds and their journey to Australia
This is the beautiful story of Dennis and Michel from Hong Kong.
These two lovebirds started their unique lifelong journey together back in Hong Kong, over their mutual love of sports. Dennis and Michel’s thirst for adventure brought them all the way to Australia for their pre-wedding celebrations. They mentioned that they scoured through a LOT of photographers before they both finally fell in love with our work. What an honour!
The Light Pictures crew took the adorable young couple on a 6 hour adventure, through Brisbane city, Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast and to Hastings Point Lookout, Casuarina in Northern NSW.
What we weren’t expecting was for Dennis to throw on his “Magua”(His actual wedding suit for the wedding) and Michel her “Qungua” (the traditional name for the two-piece dress for the bride), these are the same ones they will be married in, in September in Hong Kong.
Then there was the very cute “Chen signature” matching mouth mask props (that they take with them everywhere) for a bit of a laugh, brilliant!
So how did these two meet?
“It has been said that maybe god wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet that person, we will know how to be grateful.
An ordinary question in the workplace sparked an extraordinary love story. Why do you stay back so late?
Michel and I love sports. Every time I got hurt, she is the one who would accompany me to the hospital. Michel is the most frank and well organised person that I have ever met and knows how to comfort me when I’m in a bad mood.
So after dating for six months, Dennis made his proposal to Michel.
It was quite embarrassing, the day I made my proposal. It was the lantern festival and she worked the whole day long. Michel told me that she would love to go home as soon as possible. So very frankly, I said that I had planned to make my proposal to her that night.
After that, she said, Well. Take your time then.
We might not be a perfect match, but we are willing to sacrifice for each other.”

Hastings Point Lookout – Casuarina
The sun was setting fast so we made a small trek up to the headland above Cabarita beach. Before long the entire sky was filled with thick storm clouds.
The dark looming clouds above our heads reminded me that being in love also has its storms, but if we can just hold on tighter then we will surely see the silver lining. Indeed these clouds above had created the perfect contrast for our epic surprise Kimono photoshoot!
Final words, and thank-you
It’s not every day that Light Pictures get to shoot a sweet international traveling couple like Dennis and Michel, especially when they came over here just for our little adventure.
We hope that we have truly captured the most important memories for you both, so that they will bring you, your friends, your family, much joy, reflection, and excitement building up to your BIG day and beyond!
THANKYOU and we hope to see you in Australia again soon..
Matt, Damien and Hannah.
